About The Guild

The BC Craft Brewers Guild represents craft breweries from all over BC. The mission of the Guild is to support the ongoing creation and discovery of truly great BC craft beer by helping British Columbians understand the cultural, community and economic benefits of BC’s vibrant craft beer scene. Our business is not merely about dedication to our craft, innovative brewing and our ingredients. Our business is formed to fulfill the needs of not just our customers but our people who drive and serve it passionately and purposefully.

The Guild works to unite the voices of all the craft breweries in BC; so BC’s craft beer community continues to develop and grow, and advocates on behalf of our breweries by working with local and provincial government to sustain and improve support for BC craft breweries that create local jobs, and boost local economies and local communities throughout BC.

We are on a mission to create a safe workplace across this country for our industry.

It is clear that we must make our industry a better place to work. Words alone will not accomplish this, so here are actions we are taking to ignite radical change. In partnership with the Canadian Craft Brewers Association, Jalapeno, Diversity in Brewing, and other organizations dedicated to creating safe and respectful workplaces, we have been working on initiatives with a strategic, data-driven approach to create fundamental change at both the company and national level.

In partnership with the CCBA, we are in the process of Culture Scanning all breweries in Canada to ensure we are taking the most effective steps towards intervention and improvement in our industry. The Diversity benchmarking survey went out end of June/early July. We will share results when available.

About Diversity In Brewing:

We are a grassroots initiative dedicated to celebrating and supporting diversity in the craft beer industry. We highlight and amplify the voices of Black, Indigenous, People of Colour and LGBTQ2S+ folks working in our industry, create and provide free resources for employees and employers, and facilitate dialogue about diversity & inclusion in craft beer. In 2020 we established the Diversity In Brewing Award – an annual scholarship program with Kwantlen Polytechnic University to support BIPOC and LGBTQ2S+ brewing students.

If you are in need of support we request that you reach out to us directly via reachout@bccraftbeer.com so we may connect you to our resources. We assure you that all information will be kept confidential to protect your privacy.

More and more beer lovers are discovering the great taste and quality of BC craft beer. In fact, sales of BC craft beer have doubled just in the past four years and continue to grow. All over the province, new craft breweries are opening, hiring, brewing and supporting local communities at the same time.

Not surprisingly, British Columbia is the birthplace of craft beer in Canada. In 1982, John Mitchell started Canada’s first craft brewery, Horseshoe Bay Brewing. From those first early pints, BC’s craft beer community has grown to just over 200 breweries throughout the province. We are now recognized globally for craft beer excellence, and all of our members are proud to welcome visitors and locals alike to tour our breweries and sample our unique and premium ales and lagers.
