Kiwanis Ale Fest Jan 26 & 27
Proudly held at the end of January to embrace winter, Kiwanis AleFest joins the community’s social calendar to offer attendees the unique opportunity to taste and discover a variety of high quality, local, handcrafted beers. The region is a fantastic beer market, with a mix of urban sophistication, rugged determination, spectacular wilderness and a thirst for products that support quality of life. Prince George is the hub of the north, offering all the amenities and benefits of a thriving city as the province’s northern capital.
With similarities to a wine tasting festival, Kiwanis AleFest is the Great Northern BC Beer Festival. It features three separate tastings sessions, tapas food from our community’s finest restaurants, a souvenir tasting glass, and live music and an art exhibit. The event is modeled after similar craft beer tasting events throughout BC, and by peer Kiwanis clubs in United States.Visit Site »
Hopwired Festival - February 24
Hopwired Festival, taking place at Croatian Cultural Centre in East Vancouver, features unique craft beer and coffee roaster collaborations, all-inclusive filtered/drip coffee, all-inclusive espresso, live interviews and tastings, and a local coffee market award show that will leave attendees buzzing. West Craft is proud to launch a unique tasting event of this style for the first time to consumers.
Patrons at the event will be able to taste beer, as well as coffee that has been used in that beer alongside the roaster’s collaborative partner brewery. Expect up to 40 vendors including up to 15 unique collaborations between 15 attending craft breweries and 15 attending coffee roasters. Alongside the coffee there will be a rotating selection of espresso poured by ECM CANADA (Espresso Coffee Machines). ECM CANADA is Western Canada’s largest distributor of espresso machines and Italian food equipment.
Hopwired is focused on coffee and craft beer. We also offer food trucks, donuts, and water by ELEMENT H20 to keep patrons hydrated and give their palate a break between tastings so that they can be nourished and enjoy their day.
Expect live interviews and tastings with brewers and roasters hosted by Aaron from CASCADIAN.BEER. With over 15 years in the broadcast industry in three countries, Aaron’s podcast stands out from the others and recently ranked as high as #2 in Apple Podcasts for craft beer. His background includes interviewing Paul Hadfield of Spinnakers, Canada’s first brewpub in Victoria, to small up-and-coming breweries like Steel & Oak, Dageraad, and Propolis. Aaron recently interviewed industry leaders of a national scale like Charlie Papazian and other leaders in the Brewers Association.
Capping off the event is a special presentation from the VANCOUVER COFFEE SNOB. His unique style of writing has been called ‘bold’, ‘unique’ and ‘worse than my 5 year old’s best efforts”. He vehemently denies that his writing is bold and unique.
Start browsing the list of coffee and beer vendors at www.hopwired.ca starting December 16 2017.
Collaborations will be announced mid-January 2018 through Hopwired social media. Expect first time international vendors with new beers and coffees, for the first time in BC and Canada, alongside many great local roasters and breweries serving unique beers
and third-wave coffee.
General Admission Tickets are on sale Saturday, December 16th, 2017 at 10am and are $52 (plus taxes and fees).
Tickets will be available at https://www.universe.com/events/hopwired-festival-tickets-vancouver-R2908V and www.hopwired.caVisit Site »
