Job Summary

The Assistant Brewer/Cellar Person position is a flexible role that reports to the Head Brewer. With a keen interest to continuously learn, the role assists in all aspects of beer production, cleaning, inventory, equipment fixes, and putting beer on tap. The role supports the Head Brewer in making great beer and meticulously maintaining product quality and consistency.

Responsibilities & Duties

Reporting to the Head Brewer, the Assistant Brewer/Cellars Person is responsible for:

● Receiving & cleaning dirty kegs according to SOPs

● Performing draft line & tap cleaning and maintenance

● Maintain cleanliness of all areas of brewhouse & cellar ● Perform and maintain regular preventive machine maintenance

● Perform all tasks in an efficient, safe, and productive manner

● Develop, maintain and implement SOPs

● Assist with packaging, deliveries & odd jobs as needed

● Monitor gravities, temperatures, carbonations

● Keeping records and reporting of activities and inventory on google docs

● Assist Head Brewer with tasks such as milling, transferring, CIP of vessels, dry hopping, kegging, etc.

● Responsible to report any shortages of inventory and/or be proactive in reporting low quantities of required materials

● Adhering to WorksafeBC and WHIMS safety protocols

● Foster an accepting workplace by behaving in accordance with the applicable requirements laid out in the employee handbook (available upon request) Qualifications & Experience

● Brewing/Industry Related Experience preferred

● Extremely detail-oriented and process-focused

● Trades or Mechanical Aptitude an asset

● Post-Secondary Degree/Diploma an asset

● High level of attention to detail with the ability to accurately follow instructions in written form

● Valid driver’s license required

● Good communication skills and the ability to work alone and on a team

● Self-motivated, task-orientated

● Passion for beer and brewing trends and

● Eager for continuous education within Brewing Industry

● Team player and able to work independently with minimal to no supervision

● Ability to work varied shifts, including nights, early mornings, and weekends on short notice

● Physically fit for bending, long hours on feet, and to move heavy objects (50kg – 65kg)

● Ability to make judgment calls independently when needed

● Strong logistics, record keeping, and computer proficiency

● Excellent work ethic with an ability to multitask and strong time management

● Obtaining Serving It Right & WHMIS certification Hours

● 16-hour week minimum to start, 30-hour week maximum Job Types:
