Assistant Brewer Position – Dog Mountain Brewing

Dog Mountain Brewing is looking for an assistant brewer. We are located in beautiful Port Alberni, Vancouver Island. The successful candidate will be someone who has been working in a brewery for at least one year and is competent at brewing, cellering, and some canning. We have a 7bbl system and currently, our head brewer brews alone but as our company grows we understand that we need another brewer.
Job Responsibilities:
Involved in all stages of the brewing and fermenting process
Assisting in packaging products including batch pasteurization, kegging, and canning.
Assisting in draught system maintenance and cleaning the clod room.
Assisting in the complete breakdown and cleaning of brewing equipment, fermenters, kegs, and parts
Complying with all safety standards and brewing standard operating procedures
Other responsibilities and activities as needed
Applicant Requirements:
Minimum one year working in a brewery, brewing.
An understanding of the ingredients used to make beer
Education in the fermentation industry is an asset but not a requirement
Is a self-starter and can prioritize tasks as seen fit
Can lift 50lbs unassisted to waist height and can move 160lbs unassisted (not lift)
Can spend 6+ hours on your feet a day
Is proficient in the English language (can read and write in English)
Is at least 19 years of age
Can work without supervision
Job Type:
Full time, Permanent
Pay $20-$25/hr based on experience and competence.
