Herald Street Brew Works is a small batch brewery with a 178-occupancy tasting room in the Old Town neighbourhood of Victoria. The brewery is now open and serving Victoria, with a unique line up of craft brewed beers.
We are looking to hire a head brewer to continue building our brewery and adding to its repertoire of beers. At Herald Street Brew Works we look to bring the brewery tour experience to the tasting room floor. Our establishment is designed so that all aspects of the brewing process are customer facing. Interacting with and educating our guests are aspects of the job that are woven into every day. The right candidate will be confident and mature, motivated to excel, culturally inspired, and work to have a strong connection to others. They may be working under the guidance of our current Head Brewer/Consultant during the transitional phase. The head brewer will be intimate with the development and future success of the brewery. The direction Herald Street Brew Works will follow will hinge on the ability and creative process of the Brewer.
Will run our 12HL Specific Mechanical brewhouse along with 9x12HL fermentation vessels and 10x12HL serving tanks.
Maintain an acceptable inventory of raw materials and beer, maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all equipment, tanks and work areas to achieve consistent beer quality.
Be responsible for recording and submitting brewing logs for in-house, provincial and federal use.
Must be able to perform all physical aspects of the position, not limited to lifting 55 pounds, twist/turn, reach over shoulders, moonwalk, and/stoop, and stand/walk on a continual basis.
Will network with customers, industry folk, and suppliers to promote our beer in the craft beer industry.
Flexible to work a rotating schedule as business needs arise (including nights, weekends and occasional travel), based on a 40 hour work week.
Ability to manage and supervise staff

Able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (ear plugs, gloves, boots, etc.)
Attend the weekly leadership meeting. Be open and honest and put forward any issues for discussion. Be accountable for actions requested of you.
Determine styles of beers and manage the production, in tight collaboration with the leadership team.
Minimum two years experience in the craft brewing industry
Degree in Brewing Science or Technology or related field preferred, but not required
