We are looking for a new head brewer/brewery manager to join our team to grow and develop New Tradition as a great North Island brewery. We are a great brewery in the wonderful coastal town of Comox, on Vancouver Island, and located a short distance from the marina.

As the head brewer/lounge manager, you will be responsible for all aspects of the production of beer for the brewery. From making our current selection of beers, to bringing new styles of beer to market, you will bring your brewing experience to the New Tradition team. Overall, you will be excited to bring your skills and expertise to put your mark on, and help grow the brewery production.



You will have 4+ years brewing experience in a craft brewery, either as head or senior brewer. You will have hands-on knowledge of brewing beer in a craft brewery, and be confident brewing. You’ll also have experience, or a desire to learn the commercial aspects, and be comfortable leading the tasting room team.

Qualifications & Skills

You will have great analytical and organizational skills, have great planning and communication skills, and are team oriented. You are POS and tech literate and understand basic sales/invoicing/payments processes.

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent)
  • You will have a valid drivers license and access to a vehicle
  • You can lift, push, pull up to 100 lbs
  • Experience forecasting, scheduling, and managing beer production from brewhouse to packing
  • Knowledge of CIP and brewery sanitation procedures
  • Ability to work and communicate well with staff, customers, wholesalers, retailers, and outside parties

  • Brew the current selection of beers and introduce new recipes and ideas
  • Management of brewing activities including hiring, training, and scheduling
  • Maintenance of brewhouse and equipment
  • Management of brewing
  • Drive increasing revenue through the use of promotions and marketing
  • Ensure that all back-office functions run smoothly
  • Track and Report finances to management with an understanding of profits and losses
  • POS & cash management, and inventory tracking
  • Ensure business hours are kept up to date at lounge and media outlets
  • Ensure that we are up to date on any health/regulatory information, and any necessary notices are visible to help our staff and our customers
